Original Item: Only One Available. This is an excellent condition genuine steel construction M34 Civic “Square Dip” Third Reich helmet, outfitted for German WW2 Schutzpolizei (Protection Police) issue. It features genuine double decals of Civic Police Reichsadler (National Eagle) and NSDAP swas (hook cross). These helmets were used by both the regular protection police, as well as the fire protection police.
The helmet comes with a complete leather liner attached with cork spacers, with all four hollow attachment pins/rivets present. The size 55 marked leather liner is in very good shape, with the correct 8 fingers and ventilated brow area. We checked under the leather portion, and the foam rubber under the liner is actually still soft! Usually it is very deteriorated due to age. The crown pad is also still included and in great shape, though the top tie is missing. The chin strap is intact and fully functional, and all 5 of the leather tabs to attach the skirt are present, though only two are complete, with the rest missing the ends.
The exterior of this German helmet retains almost all of the original black paint, with just some small chips and scratches in areas, such as on the left side, which has two long scratches. The NSDAP and civic eagle decals are both retained at almost 100%, with just a bit of yellowing due to age. The interior of the helmet is marked Edel-Stahl over the right ear, indicating that it is made from the correct “improved” lightweight steel alloy used on the production M34 Civic Helmets.
Overall a great opportunity to get a great example of a German WWII Civic Police helmet. Ready to display!
