Original Item: Only One Available. This is a lovely German WWII Private Purchase brown leather jacket, which could have been used just as easily for a Luftwaffe Pilot or a Panzer Tanker. The double breasted front closure evokes the leather greatcoats worn during WWII, and gives it a great look. It is in very good condition, showing signs of moderate use during the war. It has leather loops at the edge of the shoulders, as well as pebbled buttons, used for the attachment of shoulder rank insignia. There is no type of Wehrmachtadler eagle present on the exterior, and we were not able to find any maker labels either, so it is definitely a custom-made bespoke example.
The design is a private purchase, non-regulation, multi-panel chocolate brown leather construction jacket, with a lovely large lay down collar. It is the standard waist length, and the leather is in very good condition, showing no major tearing, holes, or other major wear. The jacket features a double-breasted front closure with 5 leather covered buttons on each side. The collar lapels feature an additional button hole on each side, however there are no buttons for them to attach to, so they are only for decoration. There are buttons and straps at the end of both sleeves, but they are also ornamental. There are vertical slash waist pockets on either side, which do not have any button closure.
The interior is lined with brown rayon, with quilted stitching around the chest area, while the sleeve linings have no stitching. There are horizontal slash pockets both inner chest areas, and the left side has the name TIPPEL embroidered underneath it. There are waist adjustment straps on both sides under the sleeves.
A lovely private purchase German WWII Leather jacket, equally at home on a pilot or a tanker. Ready to research and display!
