Original Items: Only One Lot of 3 Available. A wonderful collection of personal photo albums with some professional shots as well as personal snapshots, some of which have military aircraft, Luftwaffe officers, R.A.D. personnel and an aspiring young painter who served in the German Army. All photos are held in place with slots or pockets.
A total of 114 photographs fill these albums, making it a treasure-trove of images taken from the viewpoint of young, patriotic German soldiers and airmen. Historical records like this album have become priceless time capsules that provide an incomparable level of insight into the individual experience of the Second World War, now that over seventy years have passed.
The Albums In This Lot:
4 ¾” x 3 ⅛” 1938 Luftwaffe Album: The album contains 19 photographs and is named to Heinz Soyez, but we are not positive on that reading as the script in which it was written is difficult to read. The front cover features the following information:
Eine schöne Erinnerung!
Von Ihnen photographiert,
von uns entwickelt u. kopiert.
Photo-Handlung Ring-Drogerie
Kurt Friedrich
Lüben Schl.
Translation:
A beautiful memory!
photographed by you,
developed and copied by us.
Photo-plot Ring Drugstore
Kurt Frederick
Luben Schl.
The pictures show the light side of war and have images of Airmen “goofing around” and staging for humorous photos as well as hanging around at the beach.
3 ½” x 4 ¾” 1940 Heer Army Album: The album contains 46 personal photos that were taken by and or of a young German soldier and his family. There are a few military related pictures of him in uniform and standing guard duty. Most of the pictures are of him with his family, painting, “selfies” and self portraits.
4 ½” x 3 ¼” 1944 R.A.D. Album: The album contains 49 images of various types. There are photos of what we believe to be the original owner in his uniform and of his family and comrades. Most interestingly, there are images of bombed out cities and buildings with German soldiers walking through the rubble. There is a location written on the inside cover, but unfortunately due to the script in which it was written, it is difficult to read.
All albums and images are in great condition, showing amazing detail into the lives of the German soldier during WWII. These would be a welcomed addition into any WWII collection.
