Original Item: Only One Available. This example was produced by Solinger Metalwaren-Fabrik Stöcker & Co. GmbH, also known as SMF, who were one of the major producers of this knife during WWII. Their “Seated King” over SMF / SOLINGEN trademark is seen on the blade, as well as ROSTFREI (rust free) indicating stainless steel construction.
This example has fine, stainless steel components. The blade release functions and is stamped 702 on both the spring and lever. There is some old grease in the locking latch, so the blade sometimes sticks before locking in place. The marlin spike spring is intact, and the spike locks into place without issue. It is also marked with a Luftwaffe Waffen Eagle proof.
The blade of this knife is in very good condition. It retains much of the original crossgrain and is still sharp. The blade does have a bit of wear around the edge, and has definitely been sharpened.
The grip plates are of walnut with the standard four retaining rivets. These plates are in very good condition throughout, with a great walnut color to them.
A very nice rare Luftwaffe gravity knife by SMF!
