Original Item: Only One Available. Here we have a lovely German WWII Luftwaffe EM/NCO Geschwader Immelmann Ärmelstreiffen (cuff title), which were worn by members of Fliegergeschwader Schwerin during WWII. This was one of a series of commemorative honor cuff titles that were introduced by the Luftwaffe to honor fallen comrades and heroic pilots of WWI, and this one honors WWI Flying Ace Max Immelmann, who had 15 Aerial victories before being shot down.
These cuff titles were worn on the right arm, and this example is made from navy blue wool, with gray silver thread embroidery, indicating issue to an EM/NCO (officer’s had bullion embroidery). It measures about 20″ in length, with a width of about 1 3/8″, and does not look to have ever been attached to a uniform. It is in very good condition, with just a bit of wear from storage, and no mothing issues.
Ready to add to your German Luftwaffe collection!
The Luftwaffe, the air force of the German military during the Third Reich, was established in 1935. The majority of cuff titles worn by Luftwaffe personnel were instituted prior to the beginning of the Second World War. The cuff titles that were instituted prior to, and during, the Second World War fall into four general categories: Campaign Cuff Titles, Commemorative Honor Cuff Titles, Formation Cuff Titles, and Great War Honor Cuff Titles.
