Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice service worn WWII German Wehrmacht Luftwaffe (Air Force) EM (enlisted man) or NCO (Non-Commissioned Officer) Belt Buckle (Koppelschloß). It is embossed with the wartime Luftwaffe straight tail eagle on a pebbled central field, surrounded by a wreath. The rear of the buckle is unmarked, which was not uncommon. The buckle is of 1940 pattern, die stamped, steel construction, with a dark Luftwaffe blue grey painted finish, which is still present on more than 80% of the buckle.
There is some wear to the paint, and part of the buckle back is slightly bend inward, though it does not interfere with functionality. Many belt buckles were not maker marked on the buckle, but only on the leather tab attached to the rear. As this buckle has lost the tab, unfortunately the maker cannot be identified.
A very nice example of a typical Luftwaffe belt buckle that survived the war. Ready to display!
