Original Item: Only One Available. This is a salty but great looking M43 Herr (Army M43 cap. It was converted during the war from an Waffen-SS service cap and constructed of captured Italian gabardine (trikot) cloth, with fold-down panels with squared scallops to the front and forward sides, covering the entire neck on the sides and rear when in use. When not in use, the panels are raised with their ends resting upon the visor, being joined together via one aluminum olive-drab painted button. The visor is reinforced with cardboard, and covered in matching gabardine cloth.
Sewn in place in the front of the cap is a standard BeVo style Herr cap trapezoid constructed of machine woven grey and green threading in the shape of a standard eagle over a cockade. It is original to the cap and is hand-sewn to the outer fabric. The BeVo patch is in very clean crisp condition. The interior of the cap is lined with cotton that is worn in but is solid condiiton.
Overall, this is a great looking wartime used M43 field cap which started life as an SS cap but was converted to Herr and is offered at an affordable price.
