Original Item: Only One Available. This wonderful condition summer tunic is fabricated from a white cotton-rayon blend. The shoulders are adorned with Kriegsmarine Oberleutnant shoulder boards incorporating rows of silvered aluminum wire, the end creating a button hole for a Kriegsmarine gilt button. There is also a cog wheel on the should boards which indicates a mechanical officer, an officer responsible for the operation and maintenance of the ship.
There are four pockets on the front, one on each breast and larger ones at the waist on both sides, each designed with a decorative pleat and gilt Kriegsmarine buttons, each of which is maker marked and are held in place by rings on the underside and embedded in the pleat.
The right breast above the pocket is enriched with a Summer Kriegsmarine breast eagle insignia pin held in place via two horizontally-aligned vertical loops in white threading. Above the left breast pocket is a medal ribbon with Iron Cross 2nd class medal ribbon, Eastern front medal ribbon, Anschluss medal ribbon, and Sudetenland Medal medal ribbon. There are two more vertical thread loops for additional medal ribbons. Below the pocket is a Destroyer War Badge makers marked R.S. and held in place by pin back inside two loops. R.S. indicates manufacture by Rudolf Suval of Wien.
The front of the jacket has a vertical row of four Kriegsmarine gilt buttons, also maker marked held in place by rings on the underside and visible on the inside of the tunic. The sleeves have French cuffs.
Also included is an excellent condition WW2 German Kriegsmarine Officer’s Brocade Belt and Buckle. The belt measures approximately 37 inches.
