Original Item: One of a Kind. “Sweetheart” items to give to your steady girl, fiancé, or wife were used around the world as gifts when servicemen went off to war. Clearly the Germans in WWII used these items as well, though as with many things during the NSDAP period, the party icons were added so that the “sweetheart” could show their loyalty as well. This Kriegsmarine Navy sweetheart brooch measures about 1 1/4″ long, and is in the form of a naval “Fouled Anchor” with the NSDAP Swas (hook cross) insignia attached. It looks to be made completely from brass, and has a vertical pinback, though it is slightly crushed and non functional.
The brooch comes in a 1 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ x 9/16″ “tortoise shell” acrylic box, which has padding inside to protect the brooch.
A very nice example not seen by us before. Small and impressive. Ready to display!
