Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice Italian-made German WWII Heer Army Uniform, showing only light wear and in nice untouched condition. The wool gabardine shell is a bit more of a darker rough weave than seen in the German-made versions, but overall it is very well made. It is lined with lovely rayon HBT fabric, and is really in great shape.
The tunic features four pockets with scalloped flaps and painted pebbled aluminum buttons, and is adorned with the usual rank and branch insignia used on German tunics. The attractive Army breast eagle is a later war BeVO embroidered version made with gray thread in a green background, and is very neatly hand stitched to the chest. The bullion thread of the eagle is in great shape, with minimal wear and oxidation. There is a very nice Funkmeister (radioman) embroidered sleeve trade badge on the right arm, which is still in great shape, with silver bullion trim.
The collar does not have any wrapping as would be seen on a German-made tunic, and is decorated a strip of 9mm flat silver-grey woven rayon braid (Unteroffoziers-Tressen), sewn around the collar border. There are EM/NCO litzen collar patches on each side, which are woven from silver-gray thread with a dark green “badge cloth” background. They do not have Corps Color stripes, as in 1938 they were removed from EM/NCO collar insignia to save time. The collar, and its insignia, are without any noticeable damage or mothing.
The “sew-in” style shoulder straps (Schulterklappen) attached to the tunic have a dark green base wool, with silver diamond-woven tress border and TWO tress loops, indicating an NCO Officer Candidate. TWO rank pips are present on the shoulder boards, indicating the cavalry rank of Fahnenjunker-Oberwachtmeister, a cavalry Cadet Officer candidate equivalent to a U.S. Army Master Sergeant. The piping around the shoulder straps is Goldgelb (Golden-Yellow), the Waffenfarbe (corps color) for Cavalry, as well as reconnaissance and armored reconnaissance units with cavalry traditions.
The included pants are in very good condition, and the color and feel of the exterior fabric matches exactly with the tunic, so we have no reason to feel that they were swapped out. The HBT rayon fabric around the inside of the waist and on the pockets matches the lining of the tunic perfectly as well.
A very nice Italian-made German Cavalry NCO’s uniform tunic & pants, ready to display!
