Original Item: Only One Available. This wonderful condition summer tunic is fabricated from a white cotton material, which is both lightweight and soft. The shoulders are adorned with Heer Artillery Hauptmann Schulterklappen (shoulder straps), incorporating two rows of fine silver flatware “Russia Braid” double piping, the end creating a button hole for a pebbled aluminum button. The sides and underside of the “insert” style Hochrot (Deep Red) wool, the Waffenfarbe (Corps Color) during WWII for Artillery, as well as General Level Officers. These are company grade shoulder straps, so these are definitely for artillery, not a General. Each bears 2 gold rank “pips”, which indicate the officer rank of Hauptmann (Captain). There is also a number 2 on each, a unit marking that could be the regiment or company.
The right breast above the pocket is enriched with a silvered metal breast eagle insignia pin held in place via two horizontally-aligned vertical loops in white threading, with a third horizontal loop below which attaches to a hook on the bottom. The front has vertical closure of 8 metal buttons with pebbled uppers, all maker marked, held in place by rings on the underside and visible on the inside of the tunic under the interior flap. There are also two hook and hoop closures for the collar.
There are four pockets on the front, one on each breast and larger ones at the waist on both sides, each designed with a decorative pleat and pebbled buttons, each of which is also maker marked and are held in place by rings on the underside and embedded in the pleat.
A really nice summer white Artillery Officers uniform in great condition, showing only minor wear. More than ready to display!
