Original Item: One-Of-A-Kind. This is a lovely “Kriegserinnerungen” (War Memories) personal photo album. The front cover features a beautiful painting of a Panzer 3 column in action. The album contains 124 pictures, some of which are professional but most are personally taken photos.
The first page is titled “Meine Dienstzeit” (Memories of My Service) Vom 3.4.1941— (From April 3, 1941—) and features a picture of the young German NCO that the album belonged to. Unfortunately his name is unknown, but there are various names in descriptions throughout the album. Most of the pictures are of German soldiers training, as well as having some down time drinking beer and playing games. There are pictures of Machinegun training, barracks bed building exercises, train cars, marching formations, hand drawn maps, German officers, fortifications and camps. The last picture is an interesting one and is labeled as “Das Adolf H Lager im Winter 1941/42” (AH Camp in winter of 1941/42. It is unclear what the camp is but there appears to be a motorpool of vehicles parked in front of it.
This is a wonderful assortment of never before seen pictures from a young German NCO who served during WWII. Album comes ready to translate, research and display!
