Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very rare Czech prewar overseas cap converted by Germany offered in very good condition. The overseas cap, nicknamed in German military slang as Schiffchen, or literally “little ship” as it resembled an up-turned row-boat, was standard issue for all branches of the Heer.
This example is constructed of a a field gray (feldgrau) wool exterior, with an olive green cotton lining. It features a fine machine BeVo-style embroidered eagle and tri-color cockade combination, with gray thread used for the eagle, typical of later war Heer issue. The inside of the cap is unmarked except for the size 53 stamped on the right side.
Condition of this cap is very good, with some light moth damage to the fabric nap in areas, and a few small holes on the rear right side. The colors are retained quite well, and this is definitely a very attractive and colorful overseas cap. The interior shows only light wear. Ready to add to your collection!
