Original Item: One-of-a-kind. This is a lovely Pre WWII Period portrait of a German Heer Army NCO in what looks to be his M35 Waffenrock dress uniform, wearing an M16 “Transitional” helmet, which has been outfit with Heer Army Decals. Based on their rank insignia, they look to be an Unteroffizier, which is the lowest NCO rank, and due to the photo being black and white, we cannot tell which branch they are in. There is some type of marking on the shoulder straps, but we cannot see what it is. The photo itself measures 7″W x 9 1/4″H, and is matted and framed, measuring 11 3/4″ x 15 1/4″.
There is what looks to be a name and possibly date and location listed under the lower right corner, which reads F. Dabers / Johlart 1935. The rear shows that this was definitely framed in Germany, we would assume sometime in the early 1940s.
A great piece of WWII militaria with some lovely research potential!
