Original Item: Only One Available. This Fireman’s Bayonet is in nice condition throughout, and is the 10-inch blade “long” version. The nickel hilt plating is bright throughout and remains 90% intact, with just some wear and light oxidation in places. The grip plates are the checkered black Bakelite type, in excellent condition and retained by aluminum rivets with dressed obverse heads.
The long blade is a fine example, with a high quality polished bright steel finish. It is in good condition and has wide fuller construction, though there are some areas of runner wear, as shown. There is no maker mark on this blade, but that was not uncommon. Raw blades were often sold to retailers for customization, and were not marked. The original black leather blade buffer is in place.
The scabbard is quite nice and still has over 95% of the original black enamel paint, with minimal checking and crazing. There are no dents, and just light wear. The body is held by the included black leather frog, which is in good used condition, though the finish has some cracking and flaking. The leather is soft, though the original stitching is coming apart below the belt loop. The black patent leather finish is a degraded as shown, as it often “melts” over the years due to pressure.
A nice, complete example here, ready to display!
