Original Item: Only One Set Available. This is a fantastic DRK, “Deutsches Rotes Kreuz” (German Red Cross) Sanitäts (Medic) grouping, contained in a brown leather Deutsches Rotes Kreuz medic pouch. It is set up with belt loops for attachment to the standard combat belt. The pouch itself is dated 1938 and the contents contained inside feature various WWII dates.
The pouch is not maker marked but does have a clear Waffenamt WaA523 inspection stamp. The leather is in lovely condition with solid stitching still present, but there is overall wear, especially to the leather hinge. The closure straps are still firmly attached to the sides and fit snugly on the brass ball finials on each side. The contents inside are various bandage types, an empty tincture bottle, splint and safety pins.
A wonderful set up perfect for the medic collector of WWII. Comes more than ready for further research and display.
History of the German Red Cross (DRK)
The DRK, “Deutsches Rotes Kreuz” (German Red Cross), a voluntary civil assistance organization originally instituted in 1864, was officially acknowledged by the Geneva Convention in 1929. In December 1937 it gained status as a legally recognized organization by the NSDAP. As with other essential services in Third Reich Germany, it came under control of the NSDAP in late 1938 under the auspices of the Ministry of the Interior’s Social Welfare Organization.
Idiot Clause – the contents of this kit are pre-1945 manufacture and are NOT suitable for use. They are being sold as novelty collector pieces only.
