Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very interesting German WWII Shooting Prize plaque, measuring about 5 3/4″ in diameter. Cast from non-magnetic metal, it has what looks to be an aluminized paint coating over most of the surface. It has two round “feet” on the bottom, and there is a wire stand on the back that allows it to stand up. The front is embossed with a German Artillery team manning an artillery piece. Above this is the following hand-engraved inscription:
3. Preis
Uffz. Preisschießen
2. Art. Ers. Abt. 263
Removing the abbreviations, the second two lines would read Unteroffizier Preisschießen, 2. Artillerie Ersatz Abteilung 263, so translated the plaque reads:
3rd Prize
NCO Shooting Prizes
2nd Artillery Replacement Battalion 263
Condition is very good, though there is a a missing chunk and some cracking at the top of the award. There is also wear to the finish around the raised rim of the award. A very nice piece with some great research potential!
