Original Items. Very Few Available. We are offered a selection of WWI-era Turkish-modified German bayonets, some originally of the 98/05 “Butcher Blade” configuration and a few of the earlier 98 configuration with a much thinner blade, but utilized by the Turkish Army who cut them down along with the scabbards. We have a few of these, all in different conditions with differing grip styles. These examples all have narrow scabbards.
Some bayonets retain their original German grips which have been severely worn and damaged, while others have been given new wooden grips in Turkey. Some are the wider 98/05 bayonet and some are the thinner 98 configuration. Every bayonet still has a visible maker’s mark and proofing mark & date on the spine, but they differ in year and maker. The 98 bayonets are dated 1905-1907, while the 98/05s are dated 1915-1918. The majority of bayonets have the maker WAFFENBRIK MAUSER A.G. OBERNDORF a.N., but there are several other makers as well. You will receive one of the few we have available. The bayonets measure roughly 16” long with the scabbard, but the different examples do vary in exact dimensions.
The scabbards are all Turkish-modified, with some having the original frog catch and others having the Turkish circular variant. We cannot guarantee any specific style or that the bayonet catch still functions. They all appear to function but we have not attempted to place them onto rifles.
These are fair bayonets ready for further research and display. Get one before they’re all gone!
