Original Item: Only One Available. German WWI Ersatz bayonets with their original 12″ blades are very hard to find today. The classic work by J.ANTHONY CARTER, GERMAN BAYONETS, VOLUME THREE published in 1992 is the complete work covering all types of WWI Ersatz bayonets and cherished by bayonet collectors everywhere.
Anthony Carter’s Reference EB46, appearing on pages 70-71, is the model we offer here. It features a heavy smooth cast steel hilt with split muzzle ring and a reinforced surround to the press stud base. It has a 12 inch fullered blade, which bears an imperial proof on the spine. Overall length is 17 1/4 inches and it comes complete with a correct all steel scabbard. Unfortunately both the bayonet and scabbard are heavily pitted.
J. Anthony Carter died in 2001 but his four volume work is acknowledged as the supreme reference work on the subject most especially the Ersatz Volume (No.3) which was his great passion throughout his lifetime.
A nice Ersatz Bayonet Type EB46 complete with scabbard, ready to add to your collection!
