Original Item: Only One Available. A rare nice example of an Model 1915 Prussian Artillery other ranks pickelhaube, with economy grey fittings. In 1915-1916 it was decided, as a way of economizing and aiding the war effort, that pickelhaube fittings would no longer be of brass, silver or tombac. Instead they were replaced with the cheaper and less visible oxidized grey steel fittings.
This helmet features a very nice high detailed frontplate (wappen) with the Prussian state eagle clutching a scepter and crown. The crown of this leather helmet displays a vented enlisted removable ball top mounted on an enlisted baseplate.
The black leather shell shows normal age crazing and wear. The smooth finished leather is in good condition having no serious defects. The front leather visor has a steel trim in very good condition. The metal spine that descends from the spike’s baseplate to the edge of the rear visor is in good condition and is the style with vent slide.
The interior shell is maker stamped and dated 1916. Size is approximately US 7 (56cm). Overall a nice condition Imperial Prussian Artillery other ranks pickelhaube correct for the age, always desirable and hard to find.
