Original Item: Only One Available. This is a really nice example of the typical brown leather hardshell P-08 holster, which was still standard issue for many soldiers during WWI. In 1916 an order came for holsters to be changed to a black color, but this holster was made before that time, and escaped being dyed or painted after manufacture.
The holster is marked on the inside of the holster top flap with FAR4 1911 in ink, which are Imperial German depot markings. The holster also has a nice maker mark stamped into the leather:
DINGELDEY & WERRES
1918
BERLIN W.
Dingeldey & Werres was a retailer in Berlin during the early part of the 20th century. They sold a variety of items, and specifically catered to the Officer’s in the German army during the WWI Period. We have found a variety of advertisements and information regarding them, though they are all in German, as would be expected.
The overall condition of the holster is very good, with supple brown dyed leather, mostly intact heavy white stitching, original loops, and pistol ejection strap. The original flap securing strap and buckle are present and in functional condition. One of the belt loops is partly torn through at the top, while the other is missing the stitching on the bottom. Also the takedown / magazine loading tool compartment is completely missing.
A really nice holster that will complete any WWI Era P08 Luger pistol. Ready to display or use!
