Original Item: Only One Available. This is cute and intended to look like a model Zepplin Air Ship with propeller to rear and passenger basket below. It is just over 4″ in length with a hole in the top for Cheroot or Cigar to be inserted and then when compressing the “propeller” in the rear it snips off the end of the small cigar. The front of the body unscrews to empty out the ends of the cigars. Body of Cigar cutter marked D.R.G.M., which means that it is a design registered with the German trademark office.
The cutter is mounted on a rather primitive wood block stand bearing a silver shield engraved with:-
FELDFLIEGER
ABTEILUNG 62
Field Pilot Department 62 is a known WWI unit, originally set up in April of 1915. Feldflieger Abteilung (FFA, Field Flying Company) was the title of the pioneering field aviation units of what became the Luftstreitkräfte (German air service) by October 1916, during World War I. Definitely lots of research potential here.
Most unusual and attractive, ready to display.
