Original Item. Only One Available. We have had very few of these Torpedo Timer type Stop Watches in over 35 years of business in the U.S.A. This one was made by the German WWII Military Contractor Hanhart, and is marked as such on the dial. This is the classic design for Torpedo timing and used in U-Boats and E-Boats in the North Atlantic, but was also used in many other functions.
This Stop Watch still runs well, though it can be finicky, and is housed in a chrome-plated nickel alloy case. The fluted knob on the top controls everything. You wind it up and when you push it in once the single seconds had starts moving immediately. On the second push, the second hand freezes at the time elapsed position. On the third push the timer resets itself to zero ready for reuse.
It is in working order and on the rear there is a still very clear stamping of N.S.S.K. over a NSDAP Political Spread eagle (Reichsadler). Surrounding this it is engraved:
Motorsportschule
(NSKK EAGLE)
Helsa b. Kassel
This basically translates to “NATIONAL SOCIALIST MOTOR CORPS,” an organization formed on April 1st 1930, which was a NSDAP sponsored “automobile” club. This particular watch was used by the Motor Sport School of Helsa bei (at) Kassel, located in central Germany. These “Schools” were used by the NSDAPs to encourage Automobile skills as other clubs did for Flying skills during the time when Germany was not allowed any Military organisations.
The dial still retains all it’s enamel and the Maker’s name is quite clear. The face is maker marked below center:
Hanhart
ANKER 7 STEINE
The manufacturer of this watch is Hanhart Chronographs, which was founded in 1882 in Diessenhofen, Switzerland, by Johann A. Hanhart. In 1902, operations were moved to Schwenningen in southern Germany, the stronghold of German watchmaking. They produced watches for the German Navy during WW1 and WW2. This model, as indicated on the watchface, has a 7-Jewel movement.
How many times have we all seen these being used in WWII movies?
Movement is in a fully working condition, though we cannot guarantee that it keeps accurate time measurements.
There is no warranty for this watch and returns for a non-working watch will not be honored. Please note all watches are wound and tested then recorded on video before shipment. We are not in the watch repair business- ALL SALES ARE FINAL.
