Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice early 1934-1935 produced police pattern Tschako in black that pre-dates the more common green wool body version. This example was made and marked by Friedrich Becker & Co. K.G of Berlin. A great Polizei helmet (shako) as used by the metropolitan police, unlike some of the more common ones found in brown for rural police, this one is all black for the metropolitan police. Interior is fine, leather is supple and shows only light age. Complete with original leather chin strap. The NSDAP Era helmet plate was removed and replaced by a post war version. This helmet plate is from the Nordrhein-Westfalen (North Rhine-Westphalia) region.
Overall it shows only minor wear, black lacquered finish still in very good condition, with just a small scuffed area on the rear right. The mesh vents are also in very good condition, and the shako still has the correct chin strap. Overall a fine looking rare police Shako that could be converted back to its WWII look. It has the size 54 1/2 written faintly on the leather liner.
