Original Item: Only One Set Available. This lovely set of a Ceramic bell and coin bank were official souvenirs from the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin. These are both official replicas of the huge bronze bell in the Berlin Bell Tower, which was the emblem of the Berlin Olympics.
The bell is approximately 4 3/4 inches tall, and 4 inches wide at the base, with a ceramic “clapper” on the inside, so it can make some noise. It is marked on the sides with the German Eagle over the Olympic rings on one side, and the Brandenburg Gate on the other. It also is marked 1.-16.August and 1936, the dates of the Berlin Olympics. The bottom of the bell is marked with 11.Olympische Spiele Berlin (11th Olympic Games Berlin) and the Motto Ich rufe die Jugend der Welt (I call the youth of the world). There are also two Swas (Swas) between the statements.
The inside of the bell has a small maker mark, which appears to be for Koenigliche Porzellanmanufaktur (Royal Porcelain Factory – KPM) in Berlin. Originally the bell would have come with a box and wooden base, but unfortunately these are missing. The bell is in great shape, with just a bit of wear on the bottom, and no chipping we can see.
The coin bank is approximately 4 1/4 inches tall and 4 inches wide at the base, which is open. The top part of the bell has a slot where coins were inserted. Like the bell, it has the German Eagle over the Olympic rings on one side, and the Brandenburg Gate on the other. Around the bottom it is marked with 1.-16. August 1936 and 1.Olympische Spiele Berlin (11th Olympic Games Berlin), with Swas (Swas) between the statements.
The bottom is maker marked by Porzellanfabrik Heinrich & Co. Selb. BAYER.OSTMARK in green. Like the bell, this also originally had a base, but that is now missing. It also has a few small chips around the bottom.
A lovely set of Pre-WWII German memorabilia. Ready to display!
