Original German Made Percussion Carbine Cut-down from Musket marked to Otto I of Greece – dated 1853 Original Items

Original Item: Only One Available. We believe this to be a German made musket, cut down to resemble a Cavalry Carbine, but it is not fitted with Cavalry accessories such as Saddle Ring. The lock plate is marked with a Crown over the Letter “O”, for King Otto of Greece. Under this is the word “MADAKI”, but we do not know what meaning this holds. It is also dated 1853 across the lock plate tail.

The barrel is now 20″ in length and full stocked measuring 33″ overall. The butt plate is absent and the mounts appear to be of Brass. It has come from almost 100 years in storage and has not yet been cleaned or restored. The lock functions correctly, holding at half cock and firing at full. The nipple is intact, protected by the very sturdy hinged nipple protector.

King Otto 1st of Greece was declared King of Greece after the Convention of London. He was the second son of King Ludwig 1st of Bavaria. Otto was born in 1815 and was placed on the Greek throne in 1832 until deposed in 1862, he died in 1867 just 52 years old.
