Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice Model 1895 Chilean Mauser Carbine, made by the renowned LUDWIG LOEWE ARMS COMPANY of BERLIN, which from 1887 onward was actually part owner of Mauser Waffenfabrik. In 1896 the company consolidated its arms manufacturing, and founded Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken, the famous D.W.M.. All rifles made 1897 onward were marked with the new company abbreviation.. Therefore ANY LUDWIG LOEWE marked firearm is considered ANTIQUE by U.S. FEDERAL LAW. Most Chilean Contract M-1895 Rifles and Carbines found today are marked DWM, and examples by Ludwig Loewe being hard to find.
Here we have a Chilean Contract 1895 7mm Mauser short Rifle/Carbine with short back sight by Ludwig Loewe of BERLIN. The left side of the receiver is marked with the production information:
MAUSER CHILENO MODELO 1895.
MANUFACTURA LOEWE BERLIN.
To the left of this is serial number C2247, which is also present on the “turned down” carbine bolt handle. In generally tight condition this rifle has certainly seen service but has been nicely cleaned up to be in good display Condition. It appears the rear sight has lost its elevation spring, which could be easily replaced. The action looks fully functional, with a crisp dry fire. The bore shows clear lands and grooves, but is worn with some oxidation.
Another Military Contract from the Victorian era that Mauser managed to snag from all its European competitors. In lovely condition and ready to display!
