Original Items: Only One Set Available. This is an outstanding two piece, black leather uniform, as often worn by Panzer tanker soldiers during the war. The uniform is in fantastic nearly unissued condition, and comes with a pair of standard German slip-on hob-nailed leather boots.
This wonderful German WWII Panzer leather uniform set came to us from the American Armoured Foundation, Inc. Tank and Ordnance Memorial Museum. The AAF Tank Museum was a living memorial dedicated to the Tank and Cavalry soldiers of the world. Before 1981 some of the artifacts that make up the AAF Tank Museum was a private collection belonging to Mr. William Gasser. Mr. Gasser felt that his collection would be beneficial in educating present and future generations to the sacrifices made and the technologies gained during war. Therefore, in 1981 the AAF Tank Museum was established as a non-profit charitable organization, and Mr. Gasser’s donated his private collection to the Tank Museum. Mr. Gasser is still active as Volunteer Director and Curator of the Tank Museum and his knowledge of military history has been a great asset to the museum. Unfortunately after 20 years of operation it had to close its doors, which is when the uniform set was acquired.
The jacket in this set a fantastic five button double breasted front furnished with bakelite buttons, which are hidden when the front is fastened. It has a lovely officer’s bullion embroidered eagle on the right chest. This is the CLASSIC look that tankers loved, and it comes complete with a matching set of black leather trousers with integral suspenders. Both the jacket and trousers still retain the original makers marks on the interior, and even still have the tags present, so it is possible that they did not see any considerable use during the war.
The included boots definitely show service wear, but are definitely the correct type usually seen used with this type of uniform. We checked inside but unfortunately were not able to find any markings due to wear.
A fantastic leather uniform set associated with Panzer Tanker personnel, offered in very good condition. Ready to research and display!
