Original German Double Barrel Percussion Pistol Serial 161 – Circa 1845 Original Items

Original Item: Only One Available. Here we have a very nice German made unmarked Double Barreled percussion pistol in approximately .43″ caliber. It features twin smoothbore barrels of 4″ in length with an overall measurement of 8″. It is built around a box lock with two exposed percussion hammers and two triggers protected by an iron trigger guard. The left trigger is bent backwards so that the two barrels can easily be independently fired.

The underside of the barrels and the frame are all marked with serial number 161, and with Crown / Crown / U, a German proof mark used during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Dating to sometime in the late 1840’s, pistols such as this were intended for self protection.

The pistol features a walnut “bag” grip, very much in the French style, which is in very good condition, with no cracking or other major damage. The locks on both sides are still functional, however neither side will hold at half cock. The right lock also sticks at half cock while firing, so the tumbler and/or sear definitely need adjustment.
