Original Item: Only One Available. Totally inert and demilitarized according to BATF guidelines with hollow body and inert fuse. This grenade cannot be converted to an explosive device and is not available for export.
This is a very nice French WWI Model 1914 OF1 Egg Hand Grenade, offered in good condition.
Known officially as the offensive n°1 (OF1), these grenades were manufactured between 1915 and 1917. The detonator would be screwed inside the upper hemisphere, whose complex forming needed that part to be stamped in a higher quality thin plate, while the lower cap could be made in a more common grade thin plate. They featured a bursting radius 38 feet.
This example is offered totally inert with a deactivated internal fuse and all explosives removed per BATF specifications. This example still has a deactivated fuze, though the collar in which it screws into place is “torn” in a few areas. Still, it does not have much corrosion, unlike most that we see and what corrosion that is present is on the spoon and pull ring.
These are rare with one of the few known examples in the permanent collection of the West Point Military Museum. A perfect addition to any Great War Collection.
