Original Item: Only One Available. These were originally issued before the Great War and were designed to be for use with the Mannlicher Berthier Infantry Rifles. It is a somewhat standard sword type bayonet, with a single edged fullered blade. The pommel design however is definitely somewhat unique, designed for a bayonet lug that fits into a round hole in the pommel of the bayonet.
This is an example of the first pattern, which has rivet retaining grips, and a muzzle ring that does not overlap the grips slightly like the later patterns. It no longer retains a hooked quillon, many of these were modified by having the quillon reduced in size for WWI service. For more details please see Watts & White The Bayonet Book, page 98, item 214.
Condition is very good, with wear and light oxidation commensurate with age. There is some cracking of the vulcanized rubber grip scales around the retaining rivets. The bayonet latch is fully functional, and the scabbard and bayonet are serial number matched.
These are becoming harder to find as time goes on, and this is definitely a very good example. Ready to clean and display!
