Original Item: Only One Available. During the Napoleonic Wars, “Bearskin” helmets like this were quite popular in Europe, and many different units used them. This example is a replica, with a slot on the side for a cockade, and a large brass front plate. The helmet is about 10 inches tall, and seems to be about a size 60 cm / 7 1/2.
The helmet plate is made in the style of the French “Lions of the Old Guard” Imperial Guard, though this plate also resembles some Italian plates of the era as well. It is most likely a “Generic” design, intended for theatrical use or display, as original examples are exceedingly expensive.
