Original Item: One-of-a-kind. Dating from circa 1860 this was probably the property of a “LADY”, no doubt the sort of Lady our Mothers all warned us about!
This is a truly beautiful little PIN FIRE Revolver, all engraved and then with GOLD inlay on the engraved cylinder also. It has a 2 3/4 inch barrel and overall length of about 6 1/2 inches. The bag grips are very old Ivory and the revolver comes with a folding trigger for easy concealment. Revolver is marked with serial number 231497 on the frame below the cylinder, and marked with 14989 on the bottom of the grips.
The fore sight has been filed off, which enhances its concealment properties, as the foresight could snag as it was being drawn. It is signed by the very famous Parisian Gunsmith on the barrel: Devisime a Paris for Louis Francois Devisme, considered one of France’s leading Gun smiths, who worked from the 1830s until the 1880s. Revolver is in good working order showing little use, cartridge gate spring appears absent but otherwise excellent.
It comes complete with a very attractive purple velvet-lined locking wooden case, measuring approximately 9″ x 5″ x 2″. We unfortunately do not have the key. The interior has spaces for the pistol, the included cleaning rod, and the ebony-handled screwdriver. There is also a compartment on the left for storing cartridges.
Just what was needed to be tucked into the top of the Garter or stocking. Just a darling little”Lady of the Night’s Revolver”, beautifully cased and ready to display.
