Original Item: Only One Available. At first glance, this looks to be a very good example of a French P1842 Back Action percussion musket. However, once you get closer, it’s clear that it is in fact a scaled down “cadet” version, intended for training in military schools. It features a 30″ smooth bore barrel and full iron mounts. It features two barrel bands, nose cap and original iron ram rod. The flintlock lock is unmarked, but the barrel breech is marked with a P proof.
The butt plate is marked U.S., and the barrel bands are both U marked, indicating acceptance into the U.S. military at some point. Measuring 43″ in overall length this is a perfectly “scaled down” percussion line musket of the type used by French Military Cadets.
