Original European Nations Military and Police Visor Lot – Formerly Part the Tower of London Yeoman Warders Club Collection – 6 Items Original Items

Original Items: Only One Lot of 6 Available. IMA recently acquired a collection of headgear from the Yeoman Warders (aka “Beefeaters”) Club located at the Tower of London. The club has a strict policy of allowing only members of the Yeoman Warders and their guests entry. It has become a tradition over the years for visiting guests with any current or prior military or police service to leave one of their pieces of headgear. Over the years this collection has grown too large, leaving the Warders to liquidate the collection to IMA! Making this a truly exclusive offering!

The Visor Hats Included in this Lot are:
– Royal Ulster Constabulary: Size 7 ⅜, appears to be from the 70s and is for a Senior officer.
– Unidentified Italian Peaked Visor.
– Swiss Peaked Visor with Crossed Keys Shield: Unidentified but it does have Swiss devices on it.
– Royal Canadian Mounted Police: The visor is named to WIlliam Scully and dated 9/76 in a size 7 ⅜.
– Dutch Naval Peaked Visor: Size 60 and appears to be Pre 1990’s.
– Post USSR Russian Federal Police Officer: Comes in a size 57.

Yeoman Warders have been guarding the Tower of London since Tudor times.
Nicknamed ‘Beefeaters’, the Yeoman Body of 32 men and women are all drawn from the Armed Forces.

Yeoman Warders were originally part of the Yeoman of the Guard – the monarch’s personal, crack bodyguard who traveled with him everywhere.

Henry VIII decided that the Tower should be protected by part of the royal bodyguard.

These ‘Yeoman Warders’ were eventually granted the right to wear the splendid red uniform, which today is known as the state dress uniform and is worn on state occasions such as the monarch’s birthday.

The more durable everyday dark blue ‘undress’ uniform was introduced in the 19th century.

Today’s Yeoman Warders need to have at least 22 years of military service.

Apart from that, they need to have reached the rank of warrant officer and to have been awarded the long service and good conduct medal.
