Original Item. One Only. Danish antique weapons are always very difficult to find. This is an example off a very scarce M-1794 Flintlock short musket for use by Engineers, otherwise known as Sappers and Miners. It has a 34″ barrel with two brass ram rod pipes and three barrel wedges. The brass mounts are all of the M-1794 pattern.
The barrel bears the serial number of L – 404 which is repeated on the tang. There is a Regimental marking on the butt plate of N 75. This musket was converted to percussion in 1843 and renumbered 2366 on the lock plate and the percussion hammer. It has the typical HUGE buttstock plate retaining bolts, intended to protect the delicate brass when the stock was rested on the ground. Cap lock nipple is intact but has been been work down quite a bit. In a nice collectible condition, ready to display.
