The Danish M48 helmet was manufactured nearly identically to the specifications of the US WW2 M1 Helmet. The Danish M.48 (model 1948) was a NATO contract helmet and every shell was manufactured either in Austria by the Ulbrichts firm or in Germany by the Linnemann-Schnetzer firm. Steel shell features a classic steel pot shape with rear seam, swivel bails (chinstrap connection points) and a canvas chin strap with steel claw connector.
The helmet liners are stamped U.SCH.65 indicating it was manufactured in 1965 by Austrian firm Heinrich Ulbricht’s Witwe, Schwanenstadt. Also present is a CF over crown stamps with represents Civil Forsvaret.. The liners all have the WWII style frontal eyelet. Other correct WW2 features include cotton herringbone twill (HBT) cloth suspension. This HBT suspension is held tightly within the M-1 helmet liner by rivets and a series of triangular “A” washers. The three upper suspension bands are joined together with a shoestring. This way the wearer could adjust the fit. Also, each liner has a web chinstrap.
