Original Items: Only One Available. This is a very nice condition U.S. Air Force size Large MB-4 flight helmet, most likely set up for training use. The MB-4 was identical to the P-4 series of helmets, except that it lacked the flip down rigid external visor. This helmet was intended for use in non-high performance aircraft, such as slower, multi-crewed bombers, transport, and utility aircraft, in which the extra protection of a wind-blast visor was not needed. Inside there is a complete liner with original data tag, giving the information on the helmet, and indicating it was made JULY 3 1957 by the SELBY SHOE COMPANY.
The helmet definitely does show some service wear, and it looks like the avionics were removed at some point, as there definitely is evidence that a microphone and headphones were once installed. Once obsolete, it was probably reissued for ground based training or some other form of protection.
