Original Item: Only One Available. This is charming, an original WWII piece of “Trench Art” constructed using British penny coins, forming the reservoir of a Trench lighter. One side shows George V, who reigned until January 1936. The other side shows George the VI, who followed the short reign of Edward VIII, and reigned from December 1936 through the end of WWII.
It needs only a fresh flint and lighter fluid to be fully operational. The hours of down time between actions left the soldiers with loads of time on their hands and Trench Art was the result, even if in WWII there were no longer any trenches to fight in.
Now very collectible it is often still as useful as originally intended. Measures 1 3/4″ x 1 5/8″.
Very practical, original and most appealing.
