Original Item: One-of-a-Kind. This is exceptionally rare today manufactured in WW2 by CHRISTY OF LONDON it is nicely dated 1941.
The normally silver mounted helmet plate and top rosette are finished in black to minimize any reflection during the Blitz, the terrible German Air Raids on England that occurred during World War Two.
This is helmet is complete with original leather sweat band where the manufacturer and date markings can be found and comes with a somewhat worn narrow leather original chin strap. The Helmet plate is marked to the BEDFORDSHIRE CONSTABULARY directly North of London. Inside the helmet in paint is the name Griffiths.
Included, found behind the sweat band is a photograph (postcard backing as was common at the time to send to friends and family) of the WWII Police officer showing him in his original WW2 high collar tunic with Kings Crown to collar and his Number #111. On the back of the photo in pencil is the name Griffiths. Weve some basic research but thus far have been unable to find the history of this officer.
