Original item: Only One Available. Measuring 16 1/2 inches in length, this is a very nice WWII No.14 trench periscope. In X 10 power, these were used to help view and plot attacks from behind cover, to avoid exposing oneself to danger. These were usually mounted on top of a tripod or other stand, and this example has the correct bottom fitting to attach to a mount.
The top the periscope still has the manufacturer’s markings:
PERISCOPE No. 14 (14 INCH)
X10 Ø 4°
ROSS, LTD
LONDON
No 4591
Still providing a good image with built in cross hairs, lens needing a good internal clean however but still usable. The bakelite eye cup is still present, though it has a chunk missing, and the focus diopter works correctly. Condition is good, though the top housing is aluminum and has cracked on the right side, as shown.
