Original Item: Only One Available. Made from brass this is typical piece of WW1 trench art of a brass ashtray assembled around a brass medallion showing the French REIMS CATHEDRAL IN FLAMES after being shelled by German artillery.
Around the edges are three spent bullet heads have been attached for additional decoration. The long hours of boredom under the surface earth (in the trenches) led to much trench art production but although once plentiful items like this one are not often encountered today.
