Original Item: One Only. This is a lovely example of the British “STAFF OFFICER’S HAT”, intended for the upper ranks, with a full red band around the head and a Lion over Crown Cap Badge.
This cap comes from the Collection of Major General John F. O’Ryan, the commanding Officer of the 27th Infantry Division, which operated under British Command in the fall of 1918. It is said to have belonged to :- STAFF CAPTAIN ROBERT W. HANNA, who was attached to to the U.S. 27th Division Headquarters as Liaison Officer and “AIDE DE CAMP” to the Chief of Staff, who was the previously mentioned major General John F. O’Ryan.
Apparently A.D.C. HANNA continued in that capacity after the War’s conclusion on November 11th. 1918. In a very good display condition, including an old tag from a previous listing, this impressive cap has maintained its rigid shape and overall is in fabulous condition and displays beautifully. Size is approximately 58cm (US 7 1/4).
