The brass hat badge is that of the Royal Artillery. The gun depicted on the cap badge is a 9pdr Rifled Muzzle Loader of about 1871, and the rammer used to ram the charge into the muzzle is also seen, to the left of the carriage wheel. “Ubique”, surmounting the gun, means “Everywhere”, and the Motto below Quo Fas et Gloria Ducunt, “Where right and glory lead us”.
Complete with roan leather sweatband bearing the hand written initials “N.F.P”. Partially hidden under the leather sweatband is a partial tailor’s paper label.
This impressive cap has maintained its rigid shape and overall is in fabulous condition and displays beautifully. Size is approximately 56cm (US 7).
