Original Item: One of a Kind. Now this is something special which we do not encounter very often at all. This fine Sword Cane Swagger Stick was purchased in PARIS from Souzy & de Lacagn, which is signed on the 19″ square cross section blade ending in a vicious point. The pear shaped wood pommel bears an intricately inlaid Regimental Officer’s badge from:
THE MIDDLESEX REGT
The pommel and matching wood scabbard have silver ferrules where they meet, which is also a twist lock mechanism to keep the swagger stick together. The handle side ferrule is engraved with:
2ND.
LIEUT. LAURENCE HENRY SCOTT
R.F.C.
This is very high quality Private purchase item owned by a British Officer, who no doubt started in the Middlesex Regiment and later transferred into the new Royal Flying Corps. The Middlesex were the FIRST British Regiment to see action in WW1 at MONS and I some how feel sure that young 2nd Lieutenant Scott quickly decided he’d rather be “UP THERE THAN DOWN HERE”.
A magnificent item measuring 27 1/2″ overall with sword in the scabbard. In lovely condition, ready to display and research!
