Original Set: One of a Kind Set. Received directly from the family, this very small grouping of 5 items, all of which belonged to Lieutenant C.A. Kirkbride of His Majesty’s Indian Army Regiment of the XVII HINDOOSTAN Regiment.
This wonderful set includes an original 29 1/2 inch long WWI Regimental Swagger stick, spelling the the name as “HINDOOSTAN,” made of nicely warped Malacca cane with nickel fittings. Then we have FOUR small officer’s manuals, three of which bears the name of C.A. Kirkbride. The forth book is actually named to a Sergeant Bingham. These manuals are titled as follows:
MILITARY ENGINEERING (Part II) dated 1910, reprinted 1915.
TACTICAL TALKS AND TRAMPS by “SEXTUS” dated 1914.
THE NEW COMPANY DRILL AT A GLANCE dated 1915.
MANUAL OF PHYSICAL TRAINING – dated 1908, Reprinted 1914.
A nice little grouping, no doubt from a novice Officer.
