Original Item: Only One Available. Encased in a solid brass body painted black with white lettering, this is a British MkIII Prismatic Marching Compass. These were originally introduced in 1932, and are well-known for their accuracy and quality of construction. The Compass Card (dial) is mother of pearl, and it floats in water to dampen the movement. The compass is Maker Marked on the back of the case, inside the rubber resting ring.

This compass is offered in uncleaned, as found in the attic condition. It is said to have been brought back by the retreating British Army during the evacuation highlighted by the Recent Movies, “DUNKIRK” and “THEIR FINEST HOUR”., however we unfortunately have no way to verify this. Also, the compass is unfortunately missing the carrying ring and prism, which are often missing and sourced off of later prismatic compasses.
