Original Item: Only One Available. These Victorian Uniforms are very hard to find, especially Officers of the Guard’s Regiments. Here is a fine and rare example of a LIEUTENANT’S tunic from the famous GRENADIER GUARDS, considered one of the best Regiments in the British Army. Raised in 1656 as Lord Wentworth’s Regiment, they served throughout the 18th century and into the Napoleonic Wars. As THE 1ST REGIMENT OF FOOT GUARDS they were present in force at the Battle of WATERLOO, where after by Royal Decree they were to be known as THE GRENADIER GUARDS.
They served illustriously throughout the 19th Century, Queen Victoria’s reign, and in both World War One and Two. They still are a premier Regiment and are responsible for guarding the Monarch at all times in their bright red uniforms outside Buckingham Palace.
Here is a very nice Original Queen Victoria era tunic of a LIEUTENANT of the GRENADIER GUARDS. Complete with gilt Regimental buttons and very heavily gimp embroidered Cuffs, Collar, tail panels and Shoulder Boards displaying the Officer’s Rank. The interior still retains its quilted quality Officer’s lining with slight wear losses to the leather waist band.
Un-named, this is just splendid in both condition an eye appeal. Very hard to find and ready to display!
NOTE: This listing is for the Tunic ONLY. The Bearskin helmet is available separately.
