Original Item: One of a kind. Made entirely of Brass, this beaker stands 4 1/2″ tall and is 3 1/2″ at its widest point. It looks like at one point it may have been silver plated, however many years of polishing has removed it on the outside, and now only the interior and bottom have the plating visible. This has also caused the original engraving to be somewhat faint, however it can still be read and says:
PRESENTED BY
Capt. The Hon: W.T. Orde-Powlett
MAY 1880.
WON BY
Private G.C. Peacock
YORKSHIRE HUSSARS
What exactly the prize was for we do not know. It was probably shooting, horsemanship or some other display of skill. It meant a lot to the Trooper winning it in 1880. Years of polish and ready to display.
