Original Item: Only One Available. This is a classic Queen Anne style screw off cannon barrel flintlock pistol with side lock. Signed J. FREEMAN and LONDON on the iron barrel along with London proof marks.
Offered in sparkling bright condition showing minimal evidence of old pitting. Dates sometime between 1720-1740, the FREEMAN gunsmiths, Father and Son, both named JAMES worked from 1705 until 1782.
Of particular note are the silver mounts, mask butt cap, escutcheon and side plate, all of high quality and with hall marks on the underside. The side plate is in the traditional shape of an 18th century sea monster which gives reason to conclude that this pistol was made for a Royal Naval Officer of the time.
The walnut stock in solid shape and still retains much of the detailed carvings. Overall length
is 12″ including the 5″ screw off barrel. Just Charming!
